What is Steel ?
Steel is an alloy of iron and carbon (with a content between 0.005% and 2% in weight) to which we add a number of elements such as Chromium, Molybdenum, Nickel, Titanium… in varying proportions to make them low and high alloys.
What are special steels ?
Special steels are so called when their chemical composition makes them different from more standard steels, with little or no alloy content, either because they contain more alloying elements, or because all the characteristics (purity and cleanliness) are controlled to give them the properties required for use.
